Unit 1: 3D Visual Design
Modeling for games is extremely important, especially for any 3d game. Knowing how to make a 3d model, a house, a car, or any other prop is crucial for creating a game. No one wants every game to be basic cubes and primitive shapes acting as platforms, you need some kind of design appeal to it all. When creating a 3d game you need Modular Design, Modular Design being individual module being put together to make a new module. Take for instance a room, no room is empty, it needs chairs, desks, a bed, maybe a desk, windows, a door, each of these things will be moduled and put together to make your room. Now you don't just make the shapes and call it a day, you have to use textures to make the models more fit into your game world. When exporting a 3d model to use in your game, make sure you export it as a .FBX file, make sure you also save your texture as the export won't keep the texture of every model. With a game you need detail, players will roam around for anything to look at, and with 3d games that is possible through Modular Design, which is why it is so important.

^ This is a classroom I made for our game Strangeview, the original intent was for this level was to use the sprinting mechanics.
